Three Things to Know About Fatty Liver Disease: Causes, Symptoms & Prevention
Fatty Liver Disease is no laughing matter, and contrary to popular belief, it can occur in individuals that don’t even drink! The disease is actually more popular amongst those with diabetes than it is for those that drink on occasion. Individuals that consume a high amount of sugar, flour, high fructose corn syrup, and that consume a heavy amount of alcohol, will often develop the disease. To combat these foods, one should have a diet that contains healthy fats like avocados, fruits and veggies, and chicken or fish.
There are a couple of different reasons for the liver to develop the Fatty Liver condition. Typically it is a steady build up fat in the liver that is caused by the diet of the individual. This build-up of fat can cause some areas of the liver to become damaged which leads to scarring and potentially cancer. In extreme cases of scarring and individual can even develop Cirrhosis of the liver. Cirrhosis will often result in the liver shutting down and those diagnosed with Cirrhosis often need liver transplants.
